Remember the story of The Emperor's New Clothes? How long will we look the other way when Sarasota County School District administrators make decisions, before and after asking for and ignoring our feedback?
For example, remember the climate surveys that used to be more than just "radio buttons" where we could voice our concerns and frustrations?
District administrators may not have wanted to read them, but SCF did, and that helped them make a decision about dual enrollment classes no longer being available at Pine View School.
See link below to view.
Are administrators currently asking what it means to graduate with a Pine View diploma? Does it involve dual enrollment classes? Well, what you may not know is SCF has already decided that it will no longer allow Pine View teachers to teach dual enrollment classes on Pine View's campus after this year.
You are being engaged, but your feedback does not matter. The decision has already been made in November and February Pine View grade distribution Example 3: Do you think the district has been accurate with dual enrollment high school transcripts, as it applies to college classes and credit?
Have the transcripts accurately reflected students taking "the most rigorous courses available on the high school campus"?
How long will we continue to pay the salaries of our current district administrators and agree with how they behave? Do we trust them to do what is in the best interest of our students and families?
The game is rigged. Under the guise of good news and increased options for online dual enrollment with UF, Pine View has now made it so no future students will be able to graduate with their Pine View diploma and associate of arts degree.
We must ask ourselves why this change was made at such a late date when students had already registered in February.
As this decision appears to be made in isolation without any stakeholder input, we are simply asking Dr. Covert, principal, Pine View School, to reinstate these classes and opportunities for students. Please stand with us and send an email to support stakeholder input on decisions that affect our children.
Covert, We object to removing the majority of dual enrollment classes from the Pine View campus. This deprives our children from being able to earn their associate of arts degree while finishing their high school diploma on Pine View campus.
Removing these classes, this late in the year, when registration was complete in February and leaving tudents with limited options is extremely concerning at best.
These classes have been staples on Pine View campus for at least 15 years and the demand continues to grow each year. Why would you consider removing these classes without any stakeholder input? This abrupt action impacts students negatively and seems arbitrary.
Please reinstate these classes for the school year. Sincerely, Sarasota county students can now take dual enrollment classes online at the University of Florida! Deadline to register is May 11, for fall! New this year, Sarasota county high school students may take dual enrollment at UF, a top 10 public research university!
You must register by May 11, Follow the link below for more information. Clerical and technical errors could cause problems, so verify and clarify before the deadlines.
